I
come from a family of thirteen – nine sisters and three brothers
(my oldest brother died in the 60’s following a motorcycle
accident). I was born
on December 7, 1956 in Compton, California.
I
am a victor of multiple childhood challenges to include having an
alcoholic father, molestation at the age of eleven (wait for the
book), and diagnosed with scoliosis.
These challenges have worked for the benefit in my adult
life.
In
1973, I acknowledged that I was a sinner (Romans 3:23), that I did
not want to be separated from God (Romans 6:23), that Jesus died so
that I could have eternal life (John 3:16), and that Jesus was
waiting to come into my life (Revelation 3:20).
In my bedroom, one Friday night, I asked Christ to come into
my life. You can ask Christ to come into your life also, if you have not
done
so, do
it now. E-mail
me so
that I can rejoice with you and help you grow.
In 1973, I also started my high school education at Long
Beach Poly High School (so proud to be “A RABBIT”).
My high school experience proved to be a highlight in my life
in relationship to spiritual interactions (member of the “Agape”
Christian Club) and interracial interactions.
I graduated from Long Beach Poly High School with honors and
scholarships in 1976.

I
continued my education and earned a Bachelor of Science, Social Work
at California State University, Long Beach in 1993.
Prior to graduating from college, through a college Christian club (Christ
Is The Answer – founder, Ingrid Moseley), I met my wife, whom
I’ve been happily married to for over twenty years.”
At
that time, this blonde, freckled-face blessing from God knocked me
off my feet (okay, I must move on as I am having a “flashback”).
“Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth
favour of the Lord,” (Proverbs 18:22).
We married August 1, 1981.
COCO (short for Colleen) and I are the proud parents of Adam and Tyler.

For
certain it was not my desire to become “a preacher,” as I
associated preachers with driving big cars and eating chicken.
One day, while reading about Isaiah’s vision (Isaiah 6:8),
I realized that God was calling me into ministry.
I thought the ability of God using me, an ordinary person
(okay, maybe my childhood was not all that ordinary) was pretty slim
in light of the biblical spiritual giants.

I
was called into the ministry in 1981, where I preached my first
sermon at New Hope Church of Christ (Holiness), USA in Long Beach,
California. It was in
the 80’s that I met Dr. John Plummer, Jr., the organizer of New
Testament Church – a Godly man who became my Pastor and mentor.
I would eventually serve as the Youth minister under Pastor
Plummer until February 1993, when God called Pastor Plummer to his
“Heavenly Home.”

I
served as interim pastor of New Testament from the time of Pastor
Plummer’s death, until a new pastor was installed.
Shortly after the new pastor was installed, I and my family
made a transition from New Testament Church to Christ Temple Church
of Christ (Holiness), USA in Los Angeles, where I served as the
Assistant Pastor until October 1998.

Through
acts of circumstances and the providence of God I returned back to
New Testament in October 1998 (many supernatural things took place
during those five years away – wait for the book).
I came back to New Testament, as Interim Pastor, appointed by
Bishop Robert L. Winn, the Presiding Officer.
Later, I was selected as Pastor where I now serve full time
for the glory of God. Prior
to becoming a full time pastor, I worked at Long Beach Memorial
Medical Center/Home Health as a Medical Social Worker for thirteen
years. I remain
affiliated with this Medical Center, serving as Chaplain for their
Hospice Program.

**As
a servant leader, I recognize the need for on-going spiritual
growth. In Exodus
14:15, God commanded Moses to speak to the people and challenge them
to “go
forward.”
